3 Steps to a Healthy Heart
There are many ways to maintaining a healthy heart including doing regular exercise, eating a healthy diet which does not contain the fats and sodium and also maintaining a healthy weight. Often getting on the implementation of a healthier life is the hardest part of living healthy. Here are three ways to get you on the right track to maintaining a healthy heart.
- Try to increase the amount of exercise you do on a daily basis including 30 minutes of exercise per day for 5-7 days a week. The institutes tell us that breaking the 30 minutes of exercise into smaller portion of exercise per day will be good. For example, going for a walk during the morning, afternoons and evening for 10 minutes a day will be helpful, and be more manageable than going for a 30 minutes of walk. Remember, even the smallest bit of exercise is good enough and increase in activity however small it is adds-up.
- Enjoy a heart healthy diet, using these helpful guidelines. Be careful in the food you consume and always read the label of food packets. Check to see how much fat and sodium is present in the food and limit those foods in your diet which are high in sodium and fat. Sometimes foods which are low in fat have higher amount of sodium inorder to make up for taste. Add more whole grains, vegetables and fresh fruits in your diet. An easy way to cut grocery costs, which and only purchase them in season when the prices are lower.
- Be conscious of your weight. Ask your doctor to calculate the BMI or Body Mass Index which compares the height of your body to your weight. If your BMI is over 25 then you can be considered overweight category, and therefore are more susceptible to heart disease.
